Vietnam Visa Tourist visas allow visitors to enter and exit Vietnam at Hanoi, HCMC and Danang airports or at any of its twelve land borders, three each with Cambodia and China, and six with Laos. Tourist visas are valid for a single 30-day stay. the government often talks about issuing visas on arrival to certain favoured nationalities, but as yet this sensible scheme has failed to materialise. Arranging the paperwork for a Vietnamese visa has become fairly straightforward, but it remains expensive and unnecessarily time-consuming. Cambodia Visa Most nationalities receive a one-month visa on arrival at Phnom Penh and Siem Reap international airports. The cost is US$20 for a tourist visa and US$25 for a business visa. One passport photo is required and you'll be 'fined' US$1 to 100B if you don't have one. Those seeking work in Cambodia should opt for the business visa as, officially, it is easily extended for long periods and, unofficially, can be extended indefinitely, including mul¬tiple entries and exits. Laos Visa Having finally realized that people will stay for longer if they get a longer visa to start with, the Lao government now issues 30-day tourist visas on arrival at several official international border crossings and at the international airports at Vientiane, Luang Prabang and Pakse. The whole process is dead easy. You need between US$30 and US$42 cash or the equivalent in Thai baht (travelers cheques and other currencies, including Lao kip, are not accepted); one passport-size photo of yourself; and the name of a hotel you will be staying at (pick any one from this guidebook). In theory you need the name of a contact in Laos but it's OK to leave that section blank. For airport arrivals you're also supposed to possess a valid return air ticket, but we've never heard of anyone who's actually been asked to show it.......More >
